J.R. Irvin Elementary Principal announces transition to a corporate position
Former MISD leader Judy Walling named J.R. Irvin Elementary Interim Principal
J.R. Irvin Elementary Principal Khourie Jones announced today that she has accepted a position outside education. Jones has served as Principal at Irvin since 2021. Midlothian ISD has named former Midlothian ISD executive leader Judy Walling as Interim Principal at J.R. Irvin Elementary.
Walling spent 27 of her 39 years in education as an administrator at Midlothian ISD before she retired in December 2020. During her MISD tenure, she served as the Executive Director of Specialized Learning, Assistant Superintendent of Learning, Interim Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. Since retiring, Walling has continued serving children and school districts across the state as an elementary interim assistant principal, middle school interim assistant principal, interim middle school counselor and part-time accelerated instructional coordinator.
“Judy Walling is an exceptional educator whose career has made a tremendous impact on Midlothian ISD students,” said Interim Superintendent Dr. Karen Rue. “Her knowledge, familiarity and connections to Midlothian will provide stability and continuity for our students and staff over the coming weeks.”
MISD will immediately begin the principal search process. There will be an opportunity for parents and staff to provide feedback over the coming weeks as the district builds a Principal Profile of the next leader. Walling’s first day as interim will be Monday, Oct. 17.
Walling is looking forward to coming home to support MISD during the transition. “Midlothian ISD holds a special place in my heart and has since 1994,” said Walling. “I am excited to serve and work with the excellent staff at J.R. Irvin Elementary as Interim Principal while they search and select the next Principal.”
One of the hallmarks of Walling’s leadership is her ability to bring stakeholders together to discuss and design solutions that are in the best interest of the greater good without compromising what is best for children.
